Screening Design, Jewellery Quarter , Birmingham.

Research into design books loaned from the family associated with Jewellers J. Ashford and Son revealed many floral pattern leaf designs in the early 1900’s. A single leaf taken from this was arranged as if punched out of a sheet in the factory, to hint toward industrialised jewellery production that took place in the building into the 1980’s.

This more organic design for the screening, also married with the more geometric form used in the building facade, derived from later 1950’s designs of Regnum cufflnks.
